How to Win Friends and Influence People (4.6)

Part 4, Chapter 7: How to spur people on to success

Principle: Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be “hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praises.”

Dog trainers praise dogs at the slightest improvement–why don’t we do that with people? People can be so quick to give out hate versus praise.

Do you remember a time that praise changed something in your life?

The author points out that this is not to be confused with an empty praise of “good job.”

Be specific in how the work or job was well done. It makes the praise more meaningful.

Not insincerity or flattery.

It only works if it comes from the heart.

Do you find yourself giving empty praise or sincere praise?
